Commercial buses have been always the important means for people’s traveling out. As the development of Chinese economy and society and the carrying out of road traffic laws, people have become more focused on the ride comfort, handling and stability and security. Because of air spring suspension system can significantly improve the driving performance of the bus. As a result. Its application is increasingly widespread. At present, the domestic applications of air suspension are mainly the introduction of assembly-based, only a few companies have the independent ability of truly design, development, and manufacturing air suspension systems. Therefore, it is necessary to design and study to improve the air spring suspension of the R&D capabilities, and provide technical support for its application.At present, the design and study of air spring suspension system are mainly on:the design and manufacture of air springs, the air spring suspension structural design, air spring suspension parameters match and the control system of the air spring suspension system. In this study, the technical background is10m long bus. Then according to the bus to select existing air suspension structure, and in accordance with the requirements of full vehicle parameters to design the air spring suspension system, the main works are as follows:1. Air spring suspension Steering Mechanism Design:the structure design of double wishbone front suspension, the establishment of a kinematic mathematical model, and kinematic simulation analysis and optimization; the steering mechanism matching and optimization according to the designed front suspension; the structural design of the rear suspension in the V-shaped four institutions.2. Suspension parameters matching:according to the full vehicle structure layout and loading station to design&match the suspension’s stiffness and damping for the ride comfort and handling stability. On this basis, design and selection air spring and damper further.3. Establishment of vehicle suspension Simulink model: Basing on the result of suspension parameters design to establish a single-wheel model of vehicle suspension and full vehicle suspension model. At the same time, to establish the non-linear suspension and mechanical control system for the computer simulation.4. Relevant performance evaluation: according to the results of computer simulation of the vehicle suspension model to conduct time-domain and frequency domain analysis, and to further evaluation and analysis the performance designed air suspension system.5. The development of suspension design software:according to the suspension design process and methods to develop suspension design software, this software have been with some engineering significance and practical value.This study related to CAD. CAE, Dynamics, Optimize the Design, Mechanism, Signal processing and Software technology and other disciplines. Furthermore, this paper has applied ADAMS and MATALAB software to design the air suspension system for a useful exploration: On one hand, a theory and effective suspension design methods and simulation evaluation tools have been basically grasped to provide a reference for other forms of air suspension system’s design. On the other hand, this study have made some reasonable and feasible solutions to the involved key technologies, and provided technical support for the air spring suspension system application on bus. In addition, this study has developed software for bus air suspension system design. In this way, we can make the design process of air spring suspension more simply, conveniently, efficiently and effectively, it also has some engineering significance and practical value.
