With the rapid development of China’s economy, the demand for dangerous goods is increasing in various industries. In the production, storage, transportation, sale, use and disposal process, dangerous goods is related to transportation. The volume of road transportation of dangerous goods accounts for a large proportion in the total volume of the five modes of transportation and is growing rapid. Since dangerous goods has inflammable, explosive, toxic, corrosive and radioactive and other dangerous characters, the accident of road transportation of dangerous goods is likely to cause casualties, property damage or environmental pollution and other serious consequences.The system of road transportation of dangerous goods is a complex dynamic system which is composed of people subsystem, materials (including dangerous goods and vehicle and its equipment and facilities) subsystem, environment subsystem and management subsystem. It has many risk sources, and the forming of risk manifests a very complex nonlinear coupling process. The research on the coupling mechanism of safety risk for road transportation of dangerous goods help to reveal the law of interaction and mutual influence among various risk factors which affect the safety of road transportation of dangerous goods, and then identify, prevent and control the safety risk for road transportation of dangerous goods timely, and reduce the probability of accident and the severity of its consequences. This research has important practical significance for the protection of safety of road transportation of dangerous goods and people’s lives and property and environment along the transportation line.In this paper, the coupling mechanism of safety risk for road transportation of dangerous goods is studied based on systems engineering, safety science, risk management, complexity science and accident causation theory and so on. The main contents of research are as follows:The first part introduces the background and significance of this paper firstly, and then summarizes related research of risk of road transport of dangerous goods and risk coupling at home and abroad, introduces the main contents methods of this paper finally.The second part introduces the definition and classification of dangerous goods firstly, and then elaborates the definition of security and the connotation of risk and risk management theory, introduces accident causation theory finally, lay the theory foundation for analyzing the coupling mechanism of safety risk for road transportation of dangerous goods.The third part introduces the characteristics of road transportation of dangerous goods and the definition and classification of road transportation of dangerous goods accident firstly, then collects998cases of road transportation of dangerous goods accident in our country from January2005to October2013, and analyzes distribution characteristics and laws of these accidents from the perspective of month and time and road type and road section of accidents by statistical method, and then extracts risk factors which affect the safety of road transportation of dangerous goods.The fourth part elaborates the connotation of coupling of safety risk for road transportation of dangerous goods and classifies it firstly; secondly analyzes the coupling mechanism of two-factor safety risk for road transportation of dangerous goods based on Boston Matrix; thirdly constructs three-dimensional and four-dimensional trajectory intersection coupling causation models to analyze the coupling mechanism of multi-factor safety risk for road transportation of dangerous goods; fourthly constructs the measure model of coupling of safety risk for road transportation of dangerous goods based on N-K model of complex networks, and does confirmatory analysis for the measure model; finally puts forward corresponding risk management countermeasures.The fifth part summarizes research conclusions and innovation of this paper, and prospects contents that require further research, indicating directions for follow-up research.
