With the increasing electricity demand, the power industry has developed at a high rate in recent years. A large number of turbo-generator units, whose structure makes complicated and power capacity is increasing continually, have been put into operation in the power plant. Because the units works long hours at a high speed and high load condition, their faults easily occur. And it may trigger a chain reaction, causes huge economic losses. So how to ensure its safe and reliable operation has become a big problem in front of us.The main task of turbo-generator units is power generation. For monitoring the fault of turbo-generator units, this paper proposes a new research method. It develops a set of monitoring system combining with noise and vibration parameters. In the past, the vibration problem was a research focus in the generator units monitoring and diagnostic systems at home and abroad. In recent years the only vibration parameters cannot meet the requirements, with the increasing installed capacity of generator. So the subsequent monitoring and diagnosis system combines vibration parameters and other parameters, these systems have achieved certain achievements. Due to the complexity of the noise signal sampling, the system is very litter. Through working with the power plant and researching600MW supercritical turbo-generator, the paper studied a monitoring generator fault system combining noise and vibration parameters.In this paper, the monitoring system is mainly composed of sensor、data acquisition unit of lower computer monitoring and diagnosis interface of host computer. The lower computer is the data acquisition unit based on DSP. And the system uses LabVIEW to design monitoring interface. The communication between host computer and the lower computer is realized based on RS-485bus. Now, this topic research results has done an industrial experiment in the field and has achieved expected monitoring effect. It can be directly used for fault monitoring and diagnosis of supercritical power generation unit in the power plant. It is of great significance to long-term safe operation of the unit.
