Research On Waterfront Landscape Systems Planning Of New City

As the rapid development of social-economics and expansion of urban area, the pace of urbanization accelerates unprecedentedly in the recent years. However, due to the explosion of urbanization yet lack of proper strategicplanning methodologies, most of the mega cities in China are facing many problems. In order to enhance the quality of urbanization and to ensure a reasonable and successful development, we propose that to plan and develop new cities as a new solution to those addressed problems.Waterfront Green landscape is an important window to show the style and image of new citis. However,due to aimlessness and lack of scientific strategic planning, severe problems have drawn our attention. Several challenges as following has been posed.Therefore, a scientifically sound strategic plan must be created and involved in the design of waterfront landscape for new cities, in order to create localized waterfront landscape, to improve city’s systematic planning of green areas, and to support city’s ecological and environmental system, which enhances the life quality of citizens, promotes the city’s reputation, attracts business investments, and accelerates the development of economy and other aspects of the city.This paper proposes the problems in systematic planning of waterfront landscape design for new cities,based on the analyses of current conditions, existing issues, published journals, and successful case studies of city waterfront landscape design. Secondly, based on studying construction experience of domestic and foreign new cities, collection and analysis of many domestic new citis have been built and planned, summarizes the layout modes of the waterfront green of new cities in our country, extract six kinds of existing new cities waterfront green layout mode:Dispersed-type, Banding-type, Ring-type, Radiated-type, Radial annular-type and Gridding-type.And innovates6corresponding ideal models for systematic planning of waterfront landscape design for new cities. Additionally, the proposed study provides a strategic framework of planning and assessment for city waterfront landscape design. Planning system provides a general method steps and main content of the planning. Evaluation system evaluate the systems in visual, functional, social values and ecological functions,from36factors.Furthermore, a case study of the Bowang new city waterfront landscape design for the City of Maanshan was conducted to showcase its successful experience as an example of utilization of our systematic planning model of waterfront landscape design.
