The waterfront is an important resource in town,it is a specific region of the towns in both humanities landscape elements, natural landscape and artificial landscape elements,it is the formation of the most important characteristics of the urban,it is also directly affect the urban unique overall style.In recent years, with the rapid development of the town, the conservation planning of waterfront landscape attracts more and more attention of the society from all walks of life. In the process of urban construction, the style of the waterfront has been damaged to a certain extent.At present, our country is in the process of rapid urbanization, there is a huge crisis in the planning and design of waterfront area.On the one hand, the rapid development of the city has caused considerable damage to the style of the waterfront.On the other hand, The planning and design of urban waterfront environment protection is lack of systematic and effective methodology.Therefore, it is urgent and necessary to carry out the research on the planning and design of waterfront landscape protection.The thesis starts with the current situation of the protection of the waterfront landscape.Understanding of the foreign waterfront style protection planning status,and analysising of the existing domestic waterfront landscape protection and planning problems.Then,interpreting the concept of "landscape city" and the concept of the protection planning of waterfront area,Analysising the internal relations of the "landscape city" concept and waterfront environment protection planning.And divideing the urban waterfront landscape into three types to research(river waterfront landscape, Lake Waterfront landscape, coastal waterfront landscape),Then Mading an empirical study of the river waterfront environment protection planning under the guidance of the concept of "the city of mountains and rivers".At the end of the paper,the urban waterfront landscape protection planning strategy has been proposed.Through the research of this topic,making the protection planning of urban waterfront landscape based on science, arts and humanities,and Showing the characteristics of harmony between man and nature, sustainable development and so on.
