The asphalt pavement is a mainstream in a broad at present. Under such background of using the asphalt pavement with powerful exhortation in China. Also determines the construction of the airport runway using asphalt pavement will become a trend in China. This paper studies the feasibility of using asphalt pavement in Chaoshan airport from the application of construction technology and innovation point of the development trends so that provides detailed technical supports for decision-makers. But on the other hand, the experience of asphalt pavement construction is still limited compared to cement concrete. So it is necessary to study whether it is suitable to construct Chaoshan airport with asphalt pavement.The feature and advantage of asphalt concrete pavement should be analyzed on the basis of investing the application and developmental trend of asphalt pavement. Furthermore the strengths and weaknesses of asphalt pavement are discussed in Chaoshan airport under several factors, such as natural climate, subgrade conditions, earthwork engineering and construction materials and engineering economic analysis is studied with a comprehensive comparison. According to the features and developmental trend of asphalt concrete pavement runway and the system analysis of various technical issues, The asphalt pavement runway surface is more obvious advantages in Chaoshan airport because of the complicated geological conditions and the thick filling, resulting in pavement subgrade settlement enormous.
