Studies Of Design On Campus Public Green Space Serving As Roads For Pedestrians

Public green space, as an important kind of places for outdoor activities, has avarieties of use patterns. While studying on the public green space in campuses, we foundthat serving as roads for pedestrians became an important or even a main function ofpublic green space under this special environment. During the landscape design project ofstudents forest in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, we took wholeconsideration of the walking path by using the integral design, while achieving thepurpose of pedestrian crossing, we also balanced the use requirement of tourists to rest andgather in the public green space. The author intended to prove that, by respecting thephenomenon of passers-by crossing the public green space, if proper guidance added, thefunction of public green space serving as roads for pesdestrians could co-exist with otherrecreational functions. The design for this kind of green space with the function ofsidewalk is likely to form a brand new design thinking of green space landscape.
