Since Green Building Appraisement Label implemented in2008, green buildinghas been vigorously promoted. However, it exists several problems to be solved. Suchas, costing a cumbersome process and a long period, lacking of considerations ofdemonstration and ecology, and the results is easily influenced by subjective effects,which lead to unscientific nature of the assessment results. And it’s difficult to providedemonstration and reference value for other projects,which hinders the promotion ofgreen building in China. Thus, solving these problems in the assessment of greenbuilding has very important significance to the development of green building and thesustainable development of China’s construction industry.In view of this, Benchmarking theory is introduced into the field of green buildingin this paper as an effective and saving method. Through this method, benchmarkprojects could be established as references for other project,which provide a new wayto improve the ability of green building design and management for design units andconstruction units. Starting from an individual perspective, an ecological indicatorsystem of green building is designed by method of ecological footprint, as the basis ofgreen building evaluation and benchmark projects assessment. The ecological value ofgreen building is calculated accurately in this paper, which provides a scientific andintuitive judgment to evaluate whether the buildings and ecological environment are inharmony, and overcomes the defects of the current evaluation system. Benchmarkingprocess of green building is designed by two stages in this paper, including benchmarkscreening stage and benchmark selecting stage. This paper adopts the method ofindividual advantage identification to identify the characteristic and advantage of everyproject, selecting the qualified green buildings by benchmark screening model and selecting the suitable benchmarking projects by benchmark selecting model. At last,verify the scientific and feasibility of these models by using case studies.The result of research shows that benchmarking based on identifying projectcharacteristic has a strict process, reliable results, and contributes to the different projectto accept and learn actively from the successful experience of benchmark projects. Andthe evaluation method through screening model and benchmarking model, couldovercome the defects of the current method of green building evaluation, providing amore credible and practical example for the design units and the construction units, andhas obvious theoretical value and practical significance.
