Although telecommunication industry is not high energy consumption, the energyconsumption of the communication industry should not be ignored. In winter and transitionseason, evaporative cooling air conditioning technology utilize natural cold sourceeffectively, reduce the running time of computer room precision air conditioning(CRAC),saving the operation cost of enterprise. This paper mainly answered that application ofevaporative cooling air conditioning in telecommunication rooms or base stations, whichincluding direct evaporative cooler(DEC) and indirect evaporative cooler(IEC).First of all, combined the characteristics of environment and air conditioning intelecommunications room, analyzed the DEC characteristics of big volume small enthalpydifference, sensible heat capacity, humidification, dust removal by filtration, ect.Concluded the integrated operation strategy between DEC and CRAC, summarized themethod of design and model selection. According to the comparative and experimental testof three class engineering, put forward optimization scheme which mixing with outdoor airand return air first and humidification later.Based on the annual operating mode of optimization scheme DEC, the psychrometricchart divided into four area. Controled environmental parameter in ASHRAE TC9.9recommend operating area, which require dry bulb temperature18~27℃,relative humidityunder60%, moisture content between the dew point temperature5.5℃and15℃.Analysed energy saving potential of31provincial capital cities in China, whichmeteorological data is come from China Building Thermal environment analysis specialmeteorological data sets. The results show that energy saving potential of GuangZhou,NanNing, HaiKou is low less than30%, energy saving potential of HaiKou isminimum,only10.6%; energy saving potential of Lhasa is maximum, up to82.3%; expectfor Zhengzhou, KunMing, XiNing, LanZhou can achieve60%above, energy savingpotential of other city are40~60%.In addition, this paper analysed IEC applied in IT room, dew point indirectevaporative cooler(DIEC) with the capacity of temperature drop as much as possible. Inthe first place, based on thermodynamic analysis of M-Cycle working principle, concludedthat the key to obtain sub-wet bulb temperature lies in separation of product air to precooling working air. Secondly, based on comparative study of structure and workingprinciple of many DIEC, the author summarized that DIEC key parameter for design. Atlast, analysed working principle and operation mode of three different IEC applied intelecommunications room or base stations. The results show that IEC applied intelecommunications room has many advantages, such as moisture content of supply air isconsent, easy to control purity, used as heat exchanger in winter, ect.In the end, next work is the research of filtering effect and air flow organization formof DEC. Evaporative cooling air conditioning applied in communication industry isprospect.
