So far, all35kV and above substations in our country have been installed with SCADAsystem, most of these substations are unattended, some substations are equipped with imagemonitoring system. But, less of10kV substations which are closest to the consumer havebeen installed with the real-time monitoring system. In recent years in our country, withlarge-scale upgrading of urban and rural power grids, distribution automation technologieshave been given more attention; it’s the rapid promotion period of monitoring technologyfor medium and low voltage distribution network. Based on the above background, thispaper presents a monitoring system based on Multi-Agent for10kV substations, and its keytechnologies are studied.First, the papers is determining the ways of communication for different levels, and thecommunication interface is designed. According to the actual needs, using RS-485bus forthe communication in the substation, using telecommunications wireless public network forthe communication between the substation and the monitoring center, the IP of themonitoring center host should be fixed.Then the concepts of Agent technology and the Multi-Agent Systems are introduced,hierarchical idea of Multi-Agent technology is used to design monitoring system for10kVsubstations. Then the paper described various functional modules working principle of thesubstation level measurement and control system and workflow with agent designing ideas.Monitoring MAS subsystems is formed with combination each functional agent. Thesesubsystems combine with the communication Agent then make up the measurement andcontrol system of the substation. Each functional Agent is designed in this paper, analysisthe principle of measurement and control used in these modules, and formulas forcalculation are derived.Finally, the functions of the software in monitoring center and the way to use it arestated in this paper. The architecture of the software is distributed, using common elementsto design monitoring interface, graphical monitoring interface is simple and intuitive toreflect the operational status of the substation. Various statements provide data basis for the analysis of operational status of the substation.The monitoring system has been put into operation, and it is running stable till now,achieving the desired requirements. The following work will address the deficiencies of thesystem and thus improve the overall system performance.
