Water is the cradle of life, is the survival and development foundation of all living thingson earth and the human, is the irreplaceable important resources in the human sustainabledevelopment. In recent years, with the needs of social development, water demand increasesunceasingly, in order to solve the problem of uneven distribution of water resources, crossregion,inter-basin long distance water conveyance, has become a development trend. Mostterrain of long distance water conveyance project changes very big, usually with waterhammer accident of these problems are more prominent, especially the cut-out bridge waterhammer, great harm. To reduce the cost of water conveyance, when the local shape conditionspermit, the gravity flow water conveyance projects are more and more used. Which related tothis long and large elevation difference, multi-level energy dissipation,gravity pipes for waterhammer protection technology has become a current important topic of water deliverypipeline system research.The Paper comprehensively describes the research general situation of water hammerproblems both at home and abroad, also do brief explanation of air movement in pipe pressureproblem, harm and exhaust pipelines.According to the basic theory of water hammer in longdistance water conveyance project calculation, water hammer wave, water hammer speed andthe basic differential equations, explained the characteristic line method and the basicprinciple of finite difference equations briefly, and the water hammer conjugate equation werederived with a new thought. By analyzing the characteristics of gravity water conveyancesystem, established variety of calculation boundary conditions of long gravity flow multistageenergy dissipation system’s water hammer.In this article, combining with the characteristics of different projects, use c++languageto write the water hammer computer program code of specific boundary conditions, anddebugging and running constantly on the computer. Through to the xinjiang big XiGou watersupply project example were carried out under a variety of combination plan of water hammercalculation, and the output results with Excel spreadsheet visual graphics analysis, accordingto the combination of different package designs until analysis results are satisfied, finallysummarizes the effective measures of long and large elevation difference, multi-level energydissipation of gravity water pipe water hammer protection. It has a practical guiding role forthe safe and stable operation of the these works. In the future it also has certain reference value for the other similar projects’ water hammer protection’s research under the conditionof long and large elevation difference multi-level energy dissipation of gravity water pipe.
