Business is one of the most active factors in the city. Nowadays consumption hasbecome a cultural symbol, and is also an important source of urban vitality. With thedevelopment of the real estate investment becoming specialized in recent years,commercial real estate gradually becomes a hotspot in the field of real estatedevelopment.Unlike other large public buildings, shopping mall is a targeted building type fromthe date of birth. As a commodity trading place, its design and development is basedentirely on the needs and the evolution of the business. In modern society, large-scaleproduction of industrialization has brought a lot of redundant goods, and makes itpossible that people can began to consume uncontrollably. It can be said that shoppers’impulse spending constitutes the basis of modern commercial prosperity. Shoppers’consumption patterns brought fundamental changes in the shopping mall’s design andbuilding. Especially nowadays, under the influence of E-commerce, shopping mallsneed to change more urgently. The shopping mall design is based on the commoditytrading rules and consumers shopping psychology. Therefore, the core mission of designis to guide people to impulse buying and create new desire, in order to complete moretrading activities.Based on the background, this paper tries to re-sort the design of the shopping mallon the base of the original meaning of the commercial buildings. According to theprocess of commodity trading and consumer buying behavior, this research summarizedthe design system as "site planning-gathered; building flow line-current; businessesand stores–consumption". Every part corresponds to the specific processes andactivities of commodity trading, and is designed according to the specific space. Inaddition, the study also relates to the design, development and commercial center, theoperator of the relevant laws of economics, making the understanding of commercialbuildings more in-depth.
