With the rapid development of science and technology, a fundamental change inthe human production methods has happened, from variety and less mass production tomore variety and small batch production, accordingly, customer’s demand for product ismore diversified and individualized, not only on product quality, cost and reliability,delivery date of product also put forward higher requirements, therefore, how to respondquickly to market changes and customer demand is the largest issue facing today’senterprises.Statistics show that more than90%new product design is a variant designed, thatis, products have been designed on the basis of the adaptation of the original functions,principles and structure. Many enterprises, especially small and medium enterprises,still use traditional design methods, such as law of analogy and law of experience, dueto the inefficient design, high production costs, long delivery cycles of these methods,new design products cannot compare with the similar products, so, the introduction ofadvanced means of contemporary design theory, methods and tools are essential to solvethe problem. Through investigating product design of a enterprise, this paper regards thekindred products as research object, according to design features of kindred products,using generalized module design thought, generalized module divided for kindredproducts, while introduced template concept to form generalized module template(module template said as below), the technology of parameter creating of moduletemplate and configuration design based module template on concept design state havebeen discussion, the fast design system of the kindred products based the software of theSolidworks has been developed last. Through practice in the enterprises, rapid designsystem software significantly improved product design efficiency, maximum reuse ofproduct design resources, reducing product costs is of great significance.Main research contents of this paper are as follows:(1)Regarding kindred products as research object, by studying the designcharacteristics of kindred products and introducing generalized modular design, theprocess of generalized modular design, the process and principles of module partitionhave been explored, the issue that will further be resolved have been noted.(2) In response to those questions, this paper introduces concept of the template,discuss view theory of the template, combining with the general module, moduletemplate has been created, the generalized modularization rapid design based on moduletemplates also has been explored.(3) In response to demand for the detailed design of products, introducing parametric design technology, the process and key technologies of parameter creating ofmodule template has been studied on the platforms of the Solidworks.(4) In response to demand for the concept design of products, based on design caseof kindred products, introducing case-based reasoning design technology, this paperstudies technology of configuration design based on case-based reasoning technology,finally gives a rapid design process of configuration based on module templateinstantiation.
