The Model Of Public Space Design

Apart from being constituted by tall buildings, City Space is not only the free spaceamong cities, but filled with abundant content. City public space also attaches uniquecharacters for cities, as well as contains ample city life. It also bears one city’s history,providing spiritual ballast and merchandise, and earthshaking ecology value for human’sliving environment. Throughout from the ancient till now, there exists so many excellentpublic city workers. Among of them, Millennium Park has been, for its particular designedfeature, the most lightful pearl. This paper emphasizes to probe into every building in the park,endeavoring to come up with several advice to complete our city public space.In specific parts of theory, this paper has defined the concept, the design classify, and spacecharacter of the public space. In the parts of cases, exampled by Millennium Park, it selectivelyanalysis the features of Cloud Gate, Crown Fountain, Lurie Garden and Jay Pritzker Pavilion.Based on these cases’ analysis one by one, this paper also summarize some overall charactersbelow: this park shows different publicity, outstanding plyability, obvious interactivity, presentingsuperb science and technology, emphasizing basic reality, possessing sufficient democracy.This paper, based on analyzing the designed feature of Millennium Park, aims at puttingforward development strategy of urban public space and reaching four ideas of enlightenment andreference: Urban public space should emphasize dynamic integration of design and technology,should put“people oriented” as the basic principle of urban public space design, should becharacterized by cultural features, should adapt multi-functional requirements. With these ideas,our urban public space design could be guided to a healthy, organized and vigor developing way,and provide beneficial enlightenment for it.
