It is a very complicated process for diversion during construction period of waterconservancy projection. Especially for the navigation-power junction which build onnavigable waterway, its construction process is more complicated. The navigationresearch based on a specific programe is an important issue for researchers. Min river,which is the mainly waterway of Chengdu, is charged with the significant task oftransporting heavy machinery and large cargo. Min river waterway plays an importantrole in comprehensive transportation and regional development. It is the main artery andthe lifeline for the heavy machinery manufacturing to transport out of Sichuan province,and it’s also the only waterway. The Longxikou navigation-power junction on Min Riveris a comprehensive hydro-junction of navigation combining with hydropower. Becauseof the importance to Min River navigation, the flow condition during the constructionperiod of Longxikou power station will be directly concerned if Min River navigationchannel can meet the transport requirements of the large ship or not.In order to reasearch the navigation condition of Longxikou project duringconstruction period, a physical model was built. According to the result of physicalmodel, the navigation condition in construction periods was analysed. Some navigationproblems were found. In the second period of construction, near the open channelupstream inlet section, water velocity is too fast, flow status is too bad, water surfacegradient is too big. In the third period of construction, navigation depth is not enough inconnecting section of upstream approach channel. And the transverse velocity is too fast,the flow status is chaos downward the entrance area of downstream approach channel.Aim at the problems above, some comprehensive engineering measures have beenproposed. Combined with numerical modeling results, the navigation flow conditionanalysis shows that these improvements can improve the navigation flow, and theLongxikou junction problem in construction period was solved preferable. In a ddition,it provides a numerical simulation example which contains quite complicate diversionstructure. And the results of the research can be used as a reference for similar projects.
