All Electronic Computer Interlock System has been the major of the railway signalequipment. Compared to the traditional computer interlock, the all electronic computer inter-lock system has a lot of advantages in all kinds of aspects, such as security, reliability andmaintainability and so on. In particular, as its execute part, All Electronic Execution Unit(AEEU) has its functions of control, monitoring, supervision and has replaced the safety re-lays in the traditional computer interlock. As a result, AEEU greatly reduces the fault points.Besides, it has the smaller cover area, strong maintainability and so on. Based on the aboveadvantages, the all electronic computer interlock system has gradually cut a striking figure inthe railway market. So far, AEEU has received the approval of the Ministry of Railways, andhas been promoted in a wide range of railway. The interlock soft of the system has passedthrough the testing of railway related units. With the increase of the station using the all elec-tronic computer interlock system, the range has increasingly become wide. Therefore, it needshigher requirements in after-sales service and the quality and efficiency of the on-site main-tenance.The current railway form emphasizes the timeliness of repair. With the continuous im-provement of train speed, railway industry has high requirements for signal equipment. How-ever, for all electronic computer interlock system, the on-site maintenance still dependsmainly on the after-sales service of the equipment manufacturers, thus the pattern can’t com-pletely keep up with the rapid pace of development of the railway. Besides, the station usingthe all electronic computer interlock system has become more and more, which has higherrequirements for the quantity and quality of maintenance staffs. Therefore, an intelligent deci-sion support system is required to match the on-site maintenance staffs in order to solve thesite failure timely and efficiently. Only in this way, the impact for the normal railway trafficcan be reduced minimal. Based on the above analysis, it is really necessary to develop andstudy the decision support system based on fault diagnosis expert system.In this paper, we design a fault overhaul decision support system for all electronic com-puter interlock device, such as the basic framework and all of the function modules. This sys-tem has the following four functions; they are the fault information acquisition and processingsystem, database management system, fault diagnosis expert system and system management.In particular, we discussed and designed the fault diagnosis expert system in detail and brieflyintroduced the other three functions and the implementation effect display.According to the actual site conditions, we widely consulted with the operation of the AllElectronic Computer Interlock device station, and then collected and collated the failure phe-nomenon. Besides, we also consulted with the suggestions of the industry experts. At last, we gave the fault handling proposal. Based on the above efforts, we enriched and enhanced theknowledge base of the expert system, thus improved the quality and efficiency of handling thefaults for the system.In this paper, we adopted the prolog (AI language) and Visual C++(assemble language)to implement the fault diagnosis expert system. The former wrote the fault and treatmentmeasures into the knowledge base and established the fault diagnosis expert system based onVisual Prolog language. The latter chiefly finished the editor of the fault diagnosis expertsystem. Besides, we take the one fault phenomenon as an example to introduce the flow ofhandling faults in detail. In addition, we designed some visual interface to make the systemeasy to operate.So far, the basic framework and parts of software design of the system has been com-pleted has been finished, which can handle the fault phenomenon existed in the knowledgebase and can give the overhaul proposal. However, in order to make the system applied in thereal station, we have to continue to improve the knowledge base and at the same time, thesystem has to be tested and verified by relevant personnel more than once.
