Residential Landscape Design Based On Regional Culture

As a part of city, residential area, which is mainly to provide shelter for people, closely contacts with the master planning of the city. With the development of economy and improvement of people’s material and cultural living standard, the demand for living conditions has changed from simple material needs to a higher level of spirit and culture. People become more eager to a living environment with rich regional and cultural characteristics.Because of the differences of natural, social and cultural environment in different regions, there are various living forms of customs and cultural characteristics. Based on the mentioned situation and the development of the residential landscape, it is imperative to build regional residential landscapes reflecting the local cultural characteristics. This research has tried to propose how to integrate the regional cultural characteristics into the residential landscape that reserving urban texture of the original spatial form at this moment. In order to construct geographical and cultural identification of settlements environment, historic culture should be carried and reproduced in the continuous development of the residential landscape.Combining with today’s social trends of the residential area, the research has put forward to some design strategies and the transformation for a district in Shandong through theoretical analysis, case studies and summaries of methods. And performance practices have been proposed for the master planning, architectural forms, landscapes, sketches and other elements from the consideration of nature, society, culture and ecology, to integrate regional cultural characteristics to the master design.
