As scenes grow in diverse regional culture, it presents great diversification. The regional culture includes not only the characteristic physical geography, but also the particular life styles, traditions, thinking modes, and value judgement, etc, during the social development of this region. The regional culture is profoundly imprinted in people's ideology. The waterside region is generally the most significantly affected place by the accumulated history and culture of a city, and it is the area that can most greatly express the city's style and features . Thus, investigating the waterside region is a representive start in our research. In recent years, the design of waterside scenes in our country has had impressive progress. However, more and more scene designs regardless of the regional culture and features emerge in endlessly. A series of similar-pattern public squares were imitated by many cities, which has strong effects in the country wide. Such kinds of scene designs are cold and emotionless, and harmful to the further development of city scene designs. Therefore, it is essential to advocate the waterside scene designs embodying the regional culture. This idea is not only applicable to the architectures, but also to the scene designs. The regional culture and scene design should be comprehended from a novel view, in order to illustrate a creative idea and methodology, but not to form a certain style. This paper provides a new method of realizing the value of waterside scene design maximally, through investigating the relationship between the regional culture and waterside scene design.
