The tow truck is a special engineering vehicles to ensure the road clear, whichcan lift, drag and lift traction etc. Nowadays, the second class chassis is used in towtrucks, which is not suitable for tow truck working. So, it’s very necessary to researchthe tow truck chassis. To solve this problem, this paper design the tow truck chassisand research the influence between the chassis’s structure and lift traction, then buildthe chassis’s model and do the analysis of the chassis’ stability and brake performance.Finally, this paper do the finite element analysis according to the tow truck workingcondition.The main work of this paper is as follow:1)According to the working condition, this paper selected the main structure andparameter and design the power system, clutch, transmission, driving system,suspension and steering system, then ensure the type of the chassis and selected thepart.2)Based on structure of the chassis, the ability of brake performance and stabilitywere computed in different condition.3)According to the National Standard, this paper analyse the influence betweenmaximum lift traction ability and the wheel base or balance weight. The perfect wheelbase and balance weight is deduced. And the influence between maximum lift tractionability and axle load is researched.4)Based on the selected parts, this paper build the chassis’s model, then do thefinite element analysis of the chassis, which can ensure the chassis’ strength andstiffness is suitable.
