Retaining wall is the structure to prevent the soil collapsing or the truncatedslope extending, it plays a security role in setting of various construction projects.In many cases, construction’s safety depends on the safe retaining wall. Therefore,ensure the retaining wall’s safety is the designer’s primary purpose. For theretaining wall, no matter what kind of retaining method,the force is complicated,the analysis are all involved the co-operation of retaining structure andgeotechnical.With the general understanding of the retaining wall’s engineering project aswell as the geological situation and technical conditions, and according to therelevant standards and regulations and engineering reconnaissance report, theproject takes the method of counterfort retaining wall.Counterfort retaining wall can better play the material’s strength propertiesand adapt to the lower bearing capacity foundation with its simple structure,convenient installation, small cross section body and light weight. This paperdescribes the structural design process of the counterfort retailing wall and thecalculation methods in detail. And doing the artificial dig-hole pile foundationtreatment design for some sites, in which the bearing capacity could not satisfy thedesign’s requirement.Retaining walls should be designed to ensure that the full wall does not occursiding and overturning under its own weight and externalloads,and ensure that thewalls of the cross section has sufficient strength,the substrate stress is less than thefoundation stess. Therefore,the project through the overlying load of the retainingwall and the walls of the cross-sectional dimengsions of the preliminary,we cancalculate the back wall active earth pressure and check the stability of the wall.Tothe next step only when the condition is satisfied. Artificial dig-hole pile designinclude:the calculationg of vertical bearing capacity and horizontal bearingcapacity,the selection of bearing layer and rock-socketed depth,seismic bearingcapacity and deformation,the analysis and judgment of the geological data andconstruction records,construction feasibility and economic indicators,and so on.Pile as a part of the structure, also played a role of retaining,allowing the project to become more secure.In the design of pile foundation,we can not only totake into account the role of vertical bearing capacity,the horizontal bearingcapacity and flexural capacity can not be ignored,either.Many factors affect thebearing capacity and deformation properties of the artificial dig-hole pile,thedesign must be considered all aspects of the favorable and unfavorablefactors,neither a security risk,nor wastedAfter checking, the usage of the design with the combination of counterfortretaining wall and artificial dig-hole pile in the project is security and feasible.There are no theory about counterfort retaining wall combination of artificialdig-hole pile,so in this paper,the model may be not perfect.We should continuousoptimization model in the future,to make the program more economic.
