Research On The Formation And Development Prospects Of Neo-Chinese Style Of Landscape Architecture

With the faster development of globalization, heritage and innovation have become a urgent resolved problem which all professions have to face. Landscape architecture is unable to avoid it. Due to the change of lifestyles, the traditional garden art cannot meet the current social needs. There is an urgent need to look for a form of neo-Chinese landscape architecture, which could satisfies the both demands for the times in content and the modern life in form. In the moment of western style prevailing while national essence, traditional culture and regional feature neglected by people, how to inherit the distillate of the classical gardens and how to create a new garden form, which was not only with time spirit but also expresses native culture, has become a primary task of Chinese contemporary garden designers. The emergence for neo-Chinese style of landscape architecture brings prospects to this problem, and injects fresh energy into the modern landscape architecture at the same time.In recent years, the neo-Chinese style is growing in popularity by designers from all walks of life. The neo-Chinese style of landscape architecture has made some achievements, but there are still many problems, such as fewer theoretical studies and smaller practical range, which result in a lack of systematization. The author hopes this article could contribute to the development of the neo-Chinese landscape architecture by studying and summarizing on the its characteristics, foundation, development strategy, design concept and techniques for the neo-Chinese style of landscape architecture, by a way of combining theory with empirical analysis.This article researched and elaborated the basic concept and related theories of the neo-Chinese style of landscape architecture firstly; and then, summarized the formation and development of various typical landscape forms in history to discuss the foundation of neo-Chinese landscape architecture. Based on it, there are summed up some features that the design expressed through some practical cases analysis, and analyze the development strategy, advantages and urgent issues. Meanwhile, made some evaluation at the macroscopic level, and proposed the assumption and expectation of the future.
