Modern transportation plays a more and more important role, in people’s lives and thedevelopment of the whole society. It is no longer that the people had known merely as a kindof transports. Because the industry of modern transportation has become a kind of materialbase, for the smooth function of the whole society.Especially, effort of high way specified inmountain area is with great importance. With expanding of the high ways, project volume andunit length of high way tunnel is soaring. This paper is stepping into intelligentizing, lowpower consumption and high performance combined with embedded technology andcommunications technology and brings in a Monitor Control System for road tunnel based onLinux.Design proposal of this paper is based on analysis of developments for tunnel monitoringsystem domestically and abroad. Meanwhile, the corresponding technologies are also beensimply introduced. Then here comes circuit design for area controller and hard ware ofcapture card along with design for AD drivers on the capture card in the following step, at thesame time, transplanting embedded Linux on the area controller and establishing softwaredevelopment environment for it. Finally, transplanting network server Boa, and on which,implementing design for the monitor web interface.The whole tunnel monitor system is designed on basis of Distributed Control System.We divide the system into three layers for its’ own characteristics: the top layer as the centralcontrol layer made of PC; middle layer as the area control part, which consists of S3C2410Aas the core and embedded equipment of ARMlinux. The bottom layer: on site layer,consisting of all sensors and actuator on site and data collecting card. Communication for topand middle layer is via internet, and for middle and bottom layer is CAN bus andRS485/RS232Design of this paper well solves deficiency of PLC in transmission on high load and I/Owith miscellaneousness in the tunnel monitor system, and it is also very economic friendly forwhich, it is with practical significance.
