With the development of country’s Economic level and improvement of people’s living standards, people’s travelling demand is becoming more and more urgent, thus the service requirements of the urban public transport system by people are increasing, and the infrastructure of traditional system cannot meet the needs of people. The development of information technology provides a good means to enhance the public transportation system services, and electronic stop sign become an important part of public transportation system. It has been used by many developed cities, however, due to the high cost of the construction of the electronic stop sign, it is not widely used in many small cities. Therefore, the electronic stop sign in the design not only need to consider the function of the realization, but also consider the cost problem. This dissertation carried out the study of the Electronic Bus Stop Board based on RFID, which has important significance to enhance the level of service of the public transportation system, and reduce operating costs.Through the status quo at domestic and oversea research, this thesis analyze common problems from the existing Electronic Bus Stop Board. According to the system requirements analysis and design ideas, this thesis puts forward an Electronic Bus Stop Board based on RFID technology, which based on GPS technology, GPRS technology, RFID technology and microcontroller technology. This design combines the existing "3G" technology with RFID technology, through microcontroller controls GPS module, GPRS module, RFID module, and it complete to "communicate" among the three parts of the server center, bus terminal and Electronic Bus Stop Board. It makes Electronic Bus Stop Board not connect the network through using of RFID technology, so that the system not only realized the basic functions, but also achieved the goal about the concept of "low-cost, light-load station, car base station". Finally, according to the Yuxi City bus transport system, this thesis analyses this system cost with the existing systems cost using the Analytical Hierarchy Process, so that the design of the Electronic Bus Stop Board is a relatively low-cost system, it can better serve the public, and widely used in small and medium-sized cities.This thesis comprehensive use of GPS, GPRS and RFID data transmission technology, and put the Internet of Things theory to the system design, which put forward the innovative the concept "light-load station and car base station", so this system can reach the city public transport digital management efficiently low-cost. It has an great significance for guiding urban transport intensive development, improving people’s travel conditions, traffic information service, timeliness, accuracy, interactivity, regulatory, intelligent transport operating costs, enhancing the vitality and visibility of the city, promoting the city’s socio-economic sustainable development.
