Design strategy throughout the design process.It is an important part in analysing the design conditions,arranging design issues,raising design directions and guiding the design practice.It is largely determines the results.However,the research of the concept of design strategy is slightly weak in the existing framework of the architectural theory.In the existing research,the theory’s focus is primarily on the single strategy or a single type of architectural design strategies studies.There are no independent theories of the design strategies.This thesis initially established the theoretical framework of the design strategy by theoretical researching,analysing and comparing and summarizing the foundation.In the framework of the theoretical,we propose a four levels classification composed by principle design strategy, conceptual design strategy,operational design strategy and control design strategy.There are some strategy association modes like the formation of sequential, feedback, branch-and-adapted and combination.It also has some kinds of expressions like summarizing,writing,diagram,digital expressing and modeling.City high-rise complex has some features like great size and mixed-use.They reflects the character’s association of function and public.They take the multiple role of urban renewal,function, and cultural life which have great significance to the urban development.City high-rise complex coexist with contradictory and diversity,challenges and breakthroughs.It is complicate throughout the whole design process.From the main body of the design to the criteria, from the content to the meaning.The results need a more comprehensive condensation of the design strategy by the designers.Therefore,the design strategy have great significance to the city high-rise complex.We not only enrich the theory of architecture design by analyzing the four types of design strategy of this type of building,but also have a guidance to our practice.
