Along with the cities grow larger and expansion of urban population, the parkingproblem has become a major constraint on urban development. As a new parking,multi-storey garage has many advantages, such as small land occupation、relativelylow investment and so on,and multi-storey garage become one option to solve theproblem of the static traffic in the busy section. In china, the development ofmulti-storey garage has started just recently, in terms of structure design of themulti-storey,in-depth research is little, there is also no specialized code for design ofmulti-storey garage’s structure. Many different types of staircase structure’s earthquake damage appeared in theWenchuan earthquake, this caused considerable casualties. This makes structuraldesigner realized that stair as a diagonal bracing has a great influence on the seismicresponse of the whole structure. Afterwards, related academics pointed out the defectsof the traditionally structural design method that do not consider stair by calculationand analysis. The main difference between the multi-storey garage and the ordinaryframe is the ratio of ramp’s area to garage’s area is larger than the ratio of stair’s areato civil construction’s area, the seismic behavior of the multi-storey garage will bedifferent from the ordinary frame. This paper focuses on the research of the impact that the rampe caused. Firstlythis paper expounds the significance and the necessity of the research, then introducestheories of several major seismic analysis’ methods, afterwards establishes a series ofmodels of multi-storey garages and ordinary frames by finite element sofewareSAP2000, then points out the seismic behavior’s differences between the twostructures through elastic and elastic-plastic analysis, and in the study arrangement ofthe ramp、the ratio of ramp’s area to garage’s area and different reinforcement isconsidered. I hope my research can reference for the structural design of multi-storeygarage in the future.
