With the rapid development of Chinese railway transportation enterprises (RTEs), the harm of generated hazardous waste (HW) on environment and human bodies is increasing. In order to guarantee the harmonious development of these enterprises, HW generation and management modes of RTEs have caused widely attention. Through deep investigation in RTEs, and using Shanghai and Xi’an railway bureau as samples. this thesis completes following research.Firstly, according to domestic and international relevant research literatures and the RTEs investigation data, this study organizes and analyzes the current situation of production, storage and transportation, treatment and disposal of railway HW. By this analysis, it is found that HW output of RTEs is gradually increasing, and types are relatively fixed which are mostly waste mineral oil, heavy metal waste and waste acid. Although HW collection, storage and transportation is on the basis of national norms, treatment and disposal is outsourced and method is too single. Also, the management is oversimplified which causes serious]v lack of the relevant documents.Secondly, using empirical approach to research HW production situation and management modes of chemistry, steel and printing industries in our country. Base on this research, summarize HW generation characteristics and current management modes in these industries. Which found, even different characteristics show up in different fields, the management modes are basically follow "3C" principle (Clean, Cycle, Control). It provides reference experience of building up HW management modes for RTEs.Finally, carrying out comparative approach to contrast and analyze HW management properties in RTEs with other industries. Generalize and summarize the advantage and insufficient aspects of HW management modes in other fields, and then set up Railway Transportation Industry Hazardous Waste List. For HW management of RTEs, propose "3C+S", a brand new idea and content of HW management, which is based on the "3C’ principle and add the Standardize principle. The new mode is prospected more suitable for the particular circumstance. This thesis expects to stimulate RTEs who would handle HW problem more seriously by analyzing current HW situation and proposing improved measures. Thereby, it will realize both economic and environmental profit and guide the RTEs healthy development.
