Ultra-heavy oil is quite abundant around the whole world. According to relevantdocuments, geological reserves of ultra-heavy oil, estimated to reach more than1tirllion tons,is far more than that of conventional crude. Thick oil reserves is about6times larger than thatof conventional crude oil and accounts for53%of global oil and gas resources. At present,though the need of petroleum is increasing, conventional crude oil output is diminishing. Thepropotrion of Ultra-heavy oil in proven conventional crude is growing. With the constantincreasing of ultra-heavy oil production, the means of transportation of it has become the focusof people’s attention.Transportaiton by cart will not only result in high cost but also impact the exploitationand production of ultra-heavy oil owing to the environment and weather. And whats more,the217national highway will suffer from heavy transport pressure and potential security irsks.As ultra-heavy oil production in FengCheng is growing, it is necessary to choose aneconomical, safe and efficient transportation mode through pipelines for this kind of highviscosity and density in FengCheng oilifelds.The research of ultra-heavy oil the rheological properites of different viscosity,theviscosity-temperatuer characteirstics,the transportation process calculation and thetransportation options in this article provides a guarantee for the reliable transportaiton ofultra-heavy oil. This article discusses as the following aspects:(1) basic property ofultra-heavy oil research: viscosity-temperature characteristics, rheological characteirstic andrelation of yield value and temperature is studied through expeirment. Through statisticsanalysis, we know that viscosity is very sensitive to temperature. With the higher oftemperature, the viscosity decreased. The inflection point of ultra-heavy oil is around80C,Newton fluid transfer temperature point is between80-90C.(2) viscosity-reducing research:Due to the high viscosity and density, the problem need to be solved before transportation isviscosity-reduction. Viscosity-reducing methods of mixing light and wateirng is discussed inthis part. The higher the diluting amount is,the more decreased the viscosity. The phasetransition point is80%. And whafs more,with the increasing of the rate of water, the viscosityincreased to the maximum and then decreased.(3) Transportation technology calculation and scheme opiton; Based on former expeirmental staitstics, two kinds of technology calculationare both feasible from the perspective viscosity-reduction. But take all economic factors andcurrent conditions the FengCheng has into account, mixing light transpotraiton isrecommended to be as the method of transportaiton of ultra-heavy oil in the FengCheng.
