The common indexable drill has inside and outside two blades, a blade in theperiphery, a blade near the center and they are asymmetric, which is produced bythe inner and outer blade when drilling cutting force and superposition ofbackward force on the blade of radial force. In order to eliminate the radial force,the two a blade is arranged according to a certain angle, namely the β angle. Butif the design is unreasonable, the radial force will affect the surface machiningquality, chips discharge, and machine vibration, seriously, it will increase themachine tool spindle load, and reduce the service life of cutting tool and machinetool, and even lead to "tipping". In this paper, reducing the radial force andimproving the quality of the chip as a starting point, the following research iscarried out:First of all, quadrilateral drill with indexable inserts cutting force formula isdeduced via using the vector matrix method, the oblique cutting theory andempirical formula. We calculate the different diameter different β Angle drill withIndexable inserts cutting force by using the formula, and then the data arecompared.Secondly, we establish3D quadrilateral drill with Indexable inserts model,then cutting are simulated by using finite element analysis software AdvantEdge.We analysis the influence of the different diameter with different β angle (D0=21mm,30mm,40mm,50mm) on drill with indexable inserts cutting force, withcomparing and analyzing the results of simulation analysis and calculation data.We also analyze the influence of cutting parameters on cutting temperature. Andthen we compare and analysis the quadrilateral drill with Indexable inserts andprotruding triangular drill with Indexable inserts on the influence of cutting force.Then, cutting experiment is carried out on the quadrilateral drill withIndexable inserts with two specifications diameter (D0=21mm,50mm). Weanalysis the influence of different cutting speed and feed on chip breaker and cutting temperature, and the experimental results and simulation data arecompared and analyzed.In a word, based on the research achievement of the drill with indexableinserts cutting simulation and cutting experiment, this article has a certainpractical significance on improving the chip-breaking quality, improving thequality of the workpiece surface, improving production efficiency, prolonging theservice life of the cutter.
