| Chip-breaking is a critical technology in the modern machining,especially in the automatic production. Cemented Carbide Indexable Inserts chip-breaking groove is the most prevalent method to control chips. Firstly, the paper presents the significance of chip-breaking groove studies, summarizes the background of chip controlling and chip-breaking groove at home and abroad, and introduces the main work of this paper. Then, the theories of chip three dimensional curling is studied in this paper, the model of chip three dimensional curling in plane rake face cutting tools is established. And a reduced model is established, it can be use to describe chip curling in grooves cutting tools. The factors that influence chips curling and breaking are particularly analyzed, the factors include cutting parameters, cutting tool angles, geometry parameters of chip-breaking groove and performance of workpiece. The design of Indexable Inserts chip-breaking groove is studied, and the general principles of chip-breaking groove designing are summarized. After that, according to analyzes the friction between the chip and tool rake face in cutting process and concludes that reducing the contact area between the chip and tool rake face can reduce the friction between them, so the main cutting force can decrease too. Based on it, a new type of three dimensional chip-breaking grooves with friction-reducing grooves is designed, and the conclusion that the friction-reducing grooves can reduce the main cutting force is confirmed by cutting test. Lastly, according to cutting experiments of several new-type three dimension chip-breaking grooves abroad and we designed, their chip-breaking region, chip-breaking mechanism and cutting force are particularly compared. Based on the analysis of the experiment result, the characteristics of three dimension complex chip-breaking groove are summarized. |
