China is lack of water resources relatively. So In China the usage of water resource isbecoming more and more strictly. High water consumption is a great characteristic of the coalchemical industry, in which circulating make-up water accounts for more than75%of thewater usage. In order to reduce the usage of circulating make-up water the improvement ofthe water operation mode and the comprehensive utilization of industrial waste water arestudied in this paper. Firstly, through the analysis of the chemical treatment of circulatingwater and the problems existing in the circulating water technology, the measures wereimplemented to improve the chemical treatment of circulating water and the system stability.Secondly, through the analysis of the water system and the problems existing in the heatexchangers operation, the measures were implemented to improve the stability of circulatingwater system. Since heat load of circulating water system differs in different seasons ordifferent working conditions, suitable temperature control schemes were studied to reduce thewater consumption. The orthogonal experiment was carried out using water resources inGuohong Company. The optimal water operation scheme was obtained by the analysis ofquality index, concentration multiple and composite cost of water. The practical operationdemonstrated that the scheme can stabilize the circulating water system, raise concentrationmultiple of the circulating water, reduce the consumption of circulating make-up water andthe sewage quantitative. So the scheme is suitable to utilize water resource comprehensivelyand decrease water consumption.
