With the rapid development and widely application of GIS technology,the relatedapplication of GIS developed quickly in order to protect and manage the geologicalheritage.Geographic Information System (GIS) has powerful ability of data processand spatial analysis, so changing the traditional static management model and usingthe advanced GIS technology to develope, manage and protect geological heritage cannot only provide a scientific, efficient and convenient platform for the modernizationmanagement of geological heritage, but it also can effectively promote theconstruction of normalization of geological heritage.Component GIS is a new technology which integrates both the popularcomponent software technology and object-oriented technology into GIS. Itscharacteristics of simplicity of development, system integration, no specializeddevelopment language popularization of seamless, efficient, low cost and thecharacteristics of infinite extensibility make it become one of the hot spot of currentresearch.Through synthetical analysis, this paper puts forward the construction of Jilinprovince geological heritage of geographic information system, and has carried on thesystem design and realization. The system was based on C/S mode systemdevelopment framework, component GIS, Geodatabase data model and ArcGISEngine9.3software development platform. Main achievement as follows:1. The unique natural landscape and geological structure of Jilin province provideit with abundant geological tourism resources. The geological heritage resource typeis complicated and widely distributed. According to the geological formation, thegeological heritage can be divided to many types, mainly including carbonate rockkarts geological heritage, the Cenozoic volcanic geological heritage, intrusive rockgeological heritage, internal erosion, erosion of geological heritage and importantgeological profile and locality, etc. A lot of geological parks have been built in theprovince, like Jingyu volcanic mineral spring group of national geological park,Changbai mountain, Qianan mud volcanoes national geological park forest nationalgeological park, Baishan slate national mine park, etc, also some provincial geologicalpark has been built and some is to develop.2. This paper established space database and attribute database of geologicalheritage based on the Geodatabase data model, ArcSDE technology and SQL Serverrelational database. On the basis of feature analysis and reasonable classification, thesystem of the organization of spatial data and attribute data is designed. Geodatabasedata model is effective for spatial data definition, storage and organization, ArcSDE technology can provide the spatial data stored in a relational database. Thecombination of ArcSDE technology and the Geodatabase data model has made spatialdata and attribute data can be stored in the same large relational database.3. In the Visual Studio2005visual development environment, the system realizedthe functions of the map browsing, editing data, information query and browse, spatialanalysis, evaluation and protection of geological remains, user informationmanagement by using the object-oriented programming method and the Visual C#development language which can call the ArcGIS Engine component library ofcomponents.4. Through debugging and improve constantly, the system has characteristics ofgood stability, platform independence, portability and scalability, beautiful andfriendly interface, functional and practical, easy to operate. The Jilin provincegeological heritage information construction has important reference significance.
