Investigation On Intertidal Macrobenthos Along The West Coast Of Hainan Island

Macrobenthos is the most valuable and meaningful creatures of the intertidalzone. In this study, both the quality and quantity investigation have been taken duringspring (May) and autumn (October) in west Hainan Island in China.30transects werestudied. And detailed data on macrobenthos have been obtained from the areas of HaiKou, Xin Ying, Yang Pu, Dong Fang, Ying Ge Hai, San Ya.1. A total of13classes,39orders,140families,247genera and472species arerecorded. Among these, the Mollusca made up the largest percentage68.86%,including15orders,74families153genera and325species. Followed by Arthropod,19.70%, including7orders33families53genera and93species. Then the Polychaeta,4.45%, including5orders10families15genera and21species. The Echinodermatamade up1.69%with5orders5families5genera and8species. Fishes made up5.30%, ingcluding7orders,18families11genera and25species.2. In spring, the average abundance is176.93ind/m2, the average biomass is467.67g/m2. In autumn, the average abundance is553.53ind/m2, the average biomassis913.61g/m2. The average abundance and biomass in spring is lower than that inautumn, The distribution of abundance in spring was highest in middle tidal zone,medium in low tidal zone, lowest in higher tidal zone; The distribution of biomasswas highest in high tidal zone, medium in low tidal zone, lowest in middle tidal zone.The distributions of abundance in autumn were highest in low tidal zone, medium inmiddle tidal zone and lowest in high tidal zone, the distribution of biomass werehighest in middle tidal zone, medium in low tidal zone and lowest in high tidal zone.3. Via the discuss of community structure, diversity analysis and ABC curve, aconclusion that the water environment in spring was better than that in autumn alongthe west coast of Hainan Island in2012, has been made. Addtionally, thecomparatively cleaner transects were Lin Chang Jiao, Hai Tou, Hong Tang and YingGehai.
