With the development of ocean economy in recent years, a lot of projects have been conducted in Tianjin coastal zone, which have influenced on ecosystem of coastal and intertidal zone and resulted in serious destruction of biological communities and ecological environment. So the research on macrobenthos in Tianjin Gaoshaling intertidal zone is useful for analyzing the change of community and further carrying out pollution controlling and environmental protection.Macrobenthos was sampled in Gaoshaling intertidal zone in October 2006, November 2007 and June 2008. The study result indicated that 49 species have been identified and major in Mollusca, Arthropoda and Annelida. Change of abundance, biomass and secondary production of macrobenthos, which were investigated quantitatively, were same in different seasons and tidal zones. Indice of relative importance was used to discuss the dominant species every time.In addition, the community structure and biodiversity of macrobenthos were analyzed by multivariate statistic analysis and the relationship between community and environmental factors was also discussed. Similarity of community and index of biodiversity among various stations were different, so it showed that the community structure was instability. The abundance biomass comparison method (ABC) was used to detect pollution-induced disturbance in community of macrobenthos, indicating that the community of macrobenthos in most stations have been disturbed at different level.Compared with the community of macrobenthos in Chengtougu and Lvjuhe intertidal zone, community in Gaoshaling intertidal zone was the most similar to Lvjuhe intertidal zone. And ecological environment in Chengtougu had been polluted seriously. Moreover, compared with the data published in this area, the environment has been improved by bioremediation in recent years. Furthermore, community in Gaoshaling intertidal zone was the similar to the composition of groups in estuary and intertidal zone, but there were some different in species composition.In short, community of macrobenthos in study area and the whole intertidal zone in Tianjin were affected by human beings, and sediment environment have been polluted at different level. So the relevant departments should take effective measures to strengthen environmental management and the protection of biological resources and maintain the ecosystem balance.
