Survey of macrobenthos at the 2 sections in the rocky intertidal zones of Qingdao (the east of the second bathing beach section and the small Qingdao island section) was carried out monthly from August, 2004 to May, 2005.Based on the data, the biodiversity and status of the intertidal zone are examined. Monthly variations of biodiversity and dominant species are analyzed. Compared with previous data, the change of the community in this region are primarily studied. And it can be viewed an one of the scientific basis for the protection of biodiversity and the sustainable utilization of the seacoast. The most important results are as follows:(1)In this investigation, 74 species of macrobenthic fauna are obtained, belongs 9 phylum. Most of them are Mollusca, 22species. 18 of them areAnnelida.15 species are Arthropda.7 species are Nemertinea.6species are Echinodermata. Both of Porifera and Urochiardata have 2 species. Both of Coelenterata and Platyhelminthes have 1 species. 66 species of macrobenthic plants are obtained, belongs 4 phylum. Most of them are Rhodophyta, 36 species. 13 species are Chlorophyta. 16species are phaeohpyta. 1 species is Angiospermae.(2)The results of primary study shows that, the biomasses of two sections are similar. And the biomasses of mid intertidal zone are much fewer than the low intertidal zone. The abundance of the macrobenthic fauna, 2620.44ind./㎡~1552ind./㎡. Mytilus edulis is the dominant species, and it controls the characters of the biomass and abundance of two sections. The situations of the growth of the algae with different heights are great different. The biomass of the low intertidal zone is much big than the middle. Ulva pertusa, Chondrus ocellatus and Chondria crassicauslis are the dominants species in macrobenthic algae community. Chondria crassicauslis has the greatest biomass, is main dominant species.(3) In both sections, the index biodiversity are low. The index biodiversity and evenness of the small Qingdao island section are higher than the east of the second bathing beach section. The difference dues to the different pressures of humen intrusion.(4)Compared with previous data, it shows that the composition of community of macrobenthos has changed. Mytilus edulis covers for Crassostrea cf. Plicatula, become the dominant species in the macrobenthic fauna community. Chondria crassicauslis, Chondrus ocellatus, Ulva pertusa become the dominant species in the macrobenthic algae community.
