Taking Jiangxi province as the case, this paper assesses the vulnerability to theimpact of climate change on the regional food production. According to the definitionfrom the Intergovernmental Panel Climate Change (IPCC) of vulnerability, as well asconsidering two indexes of sensitivity and adaptability, it uses meteorologicalobservation data, agricultural data and socioeconomic data of all counties in Jiangxiprovince in1995-2009.By statistical analysis, it makes sure the sensitivity and adaptability index of theclimate change on the food production in Jiangxi province, it also analysis thevulnerability to the impact of climate change on the food production in Jiangxi province.According to the pattern of food supply and demand, the results of the study show thatJiangxi province belongs to a general surplus grain area but has potential food shortagearea as well. Most of counties in Jiangxi province are in moderate or highly vulnerablestate, so the food production is very vulnerable to the climate change on the whole.This paper reveals the regional distribution and the dominant factors of thevulnerability to the impact of climate change of the food production in Jiangxi province,and proposed the countermeasures for it. So it makes a positive contribution to the foodproduction in Jiangxi province.
