Study On Tourism Resources Protection Of Ancient Villay On Tourisge In Wuyuan: Based On Residents’ Place Attachment

The interaction between people and specific place would produce emotionalconnection, which is considered to be place attachment that can influence the attitudesand behaviors to resources and environment of people. Studies on place attachmentstarted early in the western world, thus the theory and methods of place attachment hascome into a relatively mature phase. However, this theory has just been introduced intoChina in recent years, which directly leads to shortage of such kind of research in thisfield. Therefore studies on community residents’ place attachment still need to be furtherenhanced. With deep development of ancient village tourism in our country, ancientvillage tourism resources have encountered severe challenges and suffered seriousdamages. Under the back ground of tourism development, it would be a new directionfor deepening place attachment studies to do researches on the developmentcharacteristics of place attachment of ancient village residents and its influence on theprotection of ancient village tourism resources, which also would provide a newperspective for the studies on the protection of our ancient village tourism resources.Taking five representative ancient villages of Wuyuan in Jiangxi province as thestudying objects, this thesis not only analyzes the current situation of the developmentand protection of ancient village tourism resources in Wuyuan, the generalcharacteristics and differences of resident’ place attachment of ancient villages, but alsobuilds up a conceptual model of the relations between place attachment and attitudes oftourism resources protection, and immigration willingness of local residents. With thehelp of structural equation model, the thesis also makes a quantitative study of theimpact of residential place attachment on the residential attitude towards tourismresources protection and on the immigration willingness of the local residents. Based onthe empirical research above, this thesis puts forward some countermeasures for theprotection of ancient village tourism resources in Wuyuan. Several findings could besummarized as follows:(1)There are sharp contradictions in terms of the development of the tourismresources in Wuyuan, including unbalanced development among those scenic spots andlots of problems produced among the interest subjects. The protection of tourismresources in Wuyuan is not optimistic, which is mainly reflected in several aspects, including the sharp contradiction between the quality of residents’ life and the protectionof ancient dwellings as well as tourism development and the protection of ancientvillage and uncompleted mechanism in terms of the protection of ancient buildings andso on.(2)Place attachment of ancient villages in Wuyuan has reached a medium level, andplace identity namely emotional attachment is far beyond the functional attachmentwhich is also considered to be place dependence, and place attachment of the ancientvillages is mainly from the dimension of place identity. The primary influential factorson the degree of place attachment and place dependence are time and family income,and time is the main factor influences the degree of place identity.(3)Place dependence exerts a positive impact on place identity; place identity has asignificant positive impact on the protective attitudes of residents in the ancient villages;place dependence greatly influences the attitudes towards the protection of resourcesthrough place identity; residents’ attitudes towards the protection of resources has asignificant positive impact on immigration willing.(4) Protection of tourism resources of ancient villages can be reinforced fromaspects of the relevant policies and measures reflected at the following three aspects:promoting place dependence, enhancing place identity and altering immigration willingof residents.The study on the influence of residential place attachment on the attitudes andbehaviors of the protection of tourism resources, not only helps the administratorsrealize the emotional bond between local residents and the ancient villages, and find outthe significance and value of protecting ancient villages on residents, but also isbeneficial to gain more support from the residents in consideration of the influence ofplace attachment on the development, protection and control of ancient villages tourism.The study of this thesis can offer some practical references to the solution of ubiquitouscontradictions and problems encountered during the course of development andprotection of current Chinese ancient villages’ tourism.
