Middle management is the backbone that to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises; also, as the performer in implementing the strategy of specific performance. Significantly, middle management plays an important role in enterprises’development. The performance of middle management has extraordinary impact on enterprises’ strategic goals. Therefore, it is will be very necessary to establish an effective performance management system. Nevertheless, currently, performance management as a management system of private enterprise is relatively week in China. In reality, there are a lot of enterprises have confusion on performance management of middle management. Middle management can be scientific managed and assessed, well by build a suitable middle management performance system with enterprise’s own characteristics, in order to promote and improve their work, fully mobilize their enthusiasm and potential; in addition, to achieving the goals of department and enterprise.This article takes KT corporate for example to conduct an empirical research and establishes a strategic oriented performance management system for KT corporate that from the theory of performance management method, through a combination of theoretical and practical methods with suggested improvements. The system which uses Key performance indicators and360degree appraisal method combined performance assessment mode are omnidirectional assessed from work performance, work capacity and work attitude, then the results can be applied in all directions of human resources management. The purpose of this paper is to motivate and guide the middle-level staff to promote healthy development. This paper can also be a reference of middle-level staff performance management system for similar enterprises.The main content of this article consists of five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction which introduces the background, significance and research method. The second chapter is the summary of the theory, mainly discusses the concept of performance management, the evolution of theory, management tools and the character of performance management of middle management. The third chapter analyzes and digs the status and performance management of the middle-level managers of KT corporate and the existing problems basing on the questionnaires and interviews. For KT corporate current performance management process in the exists of problem, combined particularity of middle management personnel position, in the fourth chapter, this article established a strategic oriented performance management system for KT corporate. The last chapter is the summary of this thesis and the prospect of research.This paper has two innovations. The first one is to analyze the problems which exist in the process of performance management of middle management. The article raises the main reasons which cause problems in middle management performance management of KT Company, such as the understanding deviation to the concept of performance management, lack of communication, lack of job analysis, lack of supporting management system etc. These problems also exist in other similar private enterprises. The second one is to establish a strategic oriented performance management system for KT corporate. The system which uses Key performance indicators and360degree appraisal method combined performance assessment mode are omnidirectional assessed from work performance, work capacity and work attitude. The all performances of middle management have been comprehensive evaluation using this system which is operable.
