Market, as the primary place for commercial activity, especially merchandise trading, its rise and its rise and decline merchandise trading is the important indicator of whether the commercial is prosperous or not. Furthermore, it can reflect the operation status of the society economy. Because of the importance of market in economical activity, the rulers in each dynasties have all adopted corresponding administrative means to maintain the order and security of market trading, Tang dynasty is not an exception in this case. This paper plans to illustrate the market management of Tang Dynasty and analyze the property and characteristic in Tang Dynasty, from the aspects of administrative institute of market management, main content of market managing, and the non-typical characteristic of market management in Tang Dynasty. The paper is organized as following:Chapter one:the configuration of the Tang’s market management organization and the related law and regulation, the Tang market management organization is dividedas two levels-central and local. The management of central market carries out dual syste—anaged by "JinBuSi" and "TaiFuSi". The official of the market management and the governor are in charge of local market. The system need the regulation of law to make sure the authority of market management.The Tang government has special regulation and law to provide a feasible guarantee towards the market management in Tang dynasty.Chaper two, the market management of Tang Dynasty is related to many aspects, From the arrangement of the stores and open and close time, standards and quality control, the price of commodities, the contract of the buying and selling and so on. Athorough discussion is given related to the management policy of the Tang’s market, the implement discussion is given related to the management policy of the Tang’s Market,the implement situation of related law and regulation and the confronted problems. Chapter3discusses about the management of the unofficial markets> folk trade market and overseas trade market. The Tang government has effective management means on both folk trade market and overseas trade market, but less effective on non-government market such as rural markets.To sum up, the market management system in Tang dynasty is perfect and covers every aspects in market. Market management has the characteristics of government dominating, mandatory and rigorousness. Although the government sets up strong constrains on market management, the market of Tang Dynasty is not completely controlled by the government as some scholars suggested. Sometimes government adjust the specific means of management according to the economic factors of market, but these economic factors are not the dominating ones.
