Since1990s, due to the rapid development of economy and technology, there is fundamental change in the trend of global market competition and enterprise management mode. The new round market competition pushes the transition of supply chain management from the conventional’horizontal integration" to "vertical integration". This is how management mode of "horizontal integration" supply chain works:utilizing external resources to quickly respond to the market needs, the enterprise will trust or outsource the non-core business or select the supplier through bidding, establish the trade partnership with enterprises that is linked to the supply chain and form a dynamic strategic alliance to realize visualized operation so as to avoid problems like long-term production cycle that is caused by over investment in producingcomponents and other materials, therefore, enterprises can gain the competitive advantages in low cost, high quality and going to market early, etc. so as to improvecompetitiveness. In this way, the enterprise can integrate both external and internal resources to complement each other’s advantages, share resources, and have cooperation in competition and development in cooperation to realize the goal of mutual winning and great-leap-forward development. The supplier management is the most important sector of the whole supply chain management. From the perspective of supply chain management in the transport project enterprise, the fast development of China’stransport project construction in the recent20years is also benefited from introducing the thought and methods of supply chain management into the project management and construction by construction enterprises.This essay uses examples in supplier management in road construction by Gansu Yuan Feng TransportingEngineeringCo.
