| By the concept of shipping center, we mean a city rather than a port. The development of a city requires the development of related social industries, while the development of shipping center will propel the development of these social industries, which will promote the development of shipping center in return. Over the past a few years, the state government paid much more attention to the development of shipping industry of Middle Reach of Yangzi River, with the setup of Wuhan Yangzi River Shipping Center as their focus. In2011, the state council list the development of Wuhan Yangzi River Shipping Center as a national strategy, which means it is now a high time to the development shipping economy development in Middle Reach Region of Yangzi River.Although the strategic position of shipping center means a lot, the study on the development of shipping center mainly focus on Shanghai International Shipping Center, rather than the inland ones. In other cases, the study is mostly qualitative or is done on behalf of ports, with little attention the quantitative contribution degree of shipping center. In the background of state building up the shipping center of Middle Reach of Yangzi River, this paper deals with the economic contribution degree of shipping center on the region affecter. By qualitative and quantitative analysis, it tries to explain the real contributing effect of shipping center.Based on Input-output Theory, the model of contribution degree and empirical analysis of Wuhan Shipping Center, this paper does thorough study on the contribution degree of Wuhan Shipping Center. It first explains the concept, functions and current building situation of shipping center, deals with the correlation between the development of shipping center and the development of regional economic development. And then, it analyzes the contribution essence of shipping center in terms of it port, shipping, ship building, shipping service and shipping research. Based on the five important industries, this paper sets up the input-output model of the contribution of shipping center. What’s more, it works out the contribution degree of shipping center on regional development, and calculated the industrial related effect and industry spreading effect and makes conclusion accordingly.As we can see from the results, Wuhan Yangzi River Shipping Center propels the development of regional economic development tremendously. The tremendous propelling effect of shipping center shows its pillar industry effect in this region. So, to develop midland economy, to speed up the economic development of alongside Yangzi River Region, we should position the development of Wuhan Yangzi River Shipping Center high on the list, so that it can benefit more the regional economic development. |
