A Research On The Influential Factors Of International Competitiveness Of Transport Services Trade In China

In21stcentury, especially entering WTO, China has been more convenient and equal inthe development of international business than before. Trade in goods develops rapidly andtransportation service trade also develops vigorously as the derivative demand. However, thedevelopment of transportation service trade falls behind that of Trade in goods. On one hand,the traditional transportation industry is labor-intensive, the modern transportation industrytransforms more technology and capital intensive gradually with the development oftechnology, therefore China has lost the original comparative advantages; on the other hand,although the export and import gradually increases, there is still trade deficit in successiveyears in our country, which is inconsistent with the condition of surplus in commodity trade.The thesis makes analysis of the factors influencing the competitive advantages intransportation service trade and finds the measures on the basis of research on China’scompetitiveness in the world.The thesis firstly expands the research on transportation service trade at home andabroad and attempts to find the research perspectives. In the second chapter it explains thedefinition between transportation service trade and international competitiveness and theintroduction of theory basis. On the basis of theories on industry competitiveness, it definesthe international competitiveness of transportation service trade; meanwhile, the thesis findsthe theoretical basis of screening factors and proposes measures combing the characteristicsof transportation service trade on the basis of Porter’s Diamond model system and Jin Pei’ s“reason-result” model.In the third chapter, in the view of the export-and-import data of China’s andinternational transportation service and its overall competitiveness and structure (includingocean passengers and goods transportation, air passengers and goods transportation, otherpassengers and goods transportation and other transportation methods) the thesis makesanalysis of TC and MOR index and makes comparative analysis of the top five countries ofinternational transportation. It concludes that the transportation service trade deficit is themain source of China’s less competitive transportation service. In the fourth chapter the thesis attempts to find the reasons of China’s lesscompetitiveness in transportation service trade as well as ocean transportation deficit andanalyzes the relative factors according with the above theories, among which it analyzesquantifiable factors(excluding service price, service quality, service brand image and structure)and establishes the measurement model. The factors according to the influence successivelyare numbers of quay berth over100,000tons, cargo handling capacity of major ports,production value of transportation service industry, transportation service openness, labornumbers and international petrol price.In the fifth chapter on the above analysis this section mentions the countermeasures ofpromoting the international competitiveness of China’s transportation service trade in sevenperspectives as following: enhances the comprehensive logistics infrastructure, improves thetransportation modernization management, promotes professional talents education andintroduction; improve ship capacity structure optimization, emphasizes leading role of goodtrade, enhances supply chain management level, constructs industry chain, strengthens thesupport and coordination of the related industries, provides the different transportation service,carries out “going-out” category; legislates on goods transportation, optimizes theintroduction of foreign investment; reinforces brand construction of transportation enterprisesand improves the quality of service.
