| With the sustainable development of society and continuing progress ininformation technology, enterprises of various types are constantly striving to surviveand prosper in an environment of competition and cooperation. In so doing, they arerequired to make unrelenting efforts to strengthen protection of their trade secrets toprevent loss or potential risks associated with their corporate security or interests.Consequently, management of corporate trade secrets has become a routineadministrative work activity which, amid the fierce competition in the market, isbecoming increasingly important.This paper targets the CG Group (hereinafter referred to as the Group), which isone of the key players in the clean energy sector in China, as a case study of tradesecrets management. The paper points out that, at a time when the Group is facing everstiffer competition in its business sector and marketplace, it is confronted with theexternal challenge of numerous loopholes and risks arising from possible loss or theft ofsecrets. Moreover, it has to grapple with the external challenge of facing ever morestringent regulatory requirements for State-owned Enterprises in this regard.Furthermore, internally, it faces the challenges posed by the fact that it comprisesmultiple layers of organizations engaging in diverse business areas, that suchorganizations are poles apart in terms of trade secrets management infrastructure andthat a high level of sophistication is inevitable and so forth. How to cope with theseinternal and external challenges to tackle problems, in a systematic and normativemanner, such as lack of clarity in the management standards applied, absence ofsystematicness in the management assessment and performance evaluation, andunsustainability of management improvements etc. In so doing, the paper carries out anin-depth analysis of the various aspects related to the trade secrets managementincluding its key features, main contents and objectives, among others. On this basis,the paper performs an innovative and exploratory study of the typical corporatetheoretical models and sustainable improvement theories related to trade secretsmanagement before putting forward a systematic management methodology optimization solution designed to deal with the trade secrets management systemappraisal system for the Group. Main components of the solution are summarizedbelow:1. To establish a management standards system encompassing the main behavioralelements of creation, application, protection and organization of trade secretsmanagement at the CG Group with the aim of sorting out management standards issues.2. In view of the contents of the CG Group’s trade secrets management standardsframework, set up a corresponding assessment mechanism and evaluation methodologyto measure its performance in the area of trade secrets management.3. To specify that, on the basis of the above trade secrets management assessmentmethodology, various subsidiary organizations within the CG Group are required tofurther define their respective continuous improvement mechanisms to lump togetherregular assessment, gap analysis, drawing up and implementing improvement plans, inorder to ensure that the problems and challenges facing the CG Group in respect oftrade secrets management can be remedied and improved, step by step, from top tobottom throughout its subsidiary organization. |
