As the basic industry of national economy, Telecommunications industry is very important to the national economy. With the development trend of world economic integration, privatization and mercerization trends in telecommunications in many countries significantly, the international telecommunications giant continued in various ways to the worldwide development, mergers and acquisitions between telecommunications giant will allow more competition in the telecommunications industry intense. China Unicom, one of the three telecom operators in promoting the development of telecommunications has an important role. How to survive and develop in a more competitive environment, how to effectively deal with the two other competitive carriers is the problem that China Unicom must face in the process of development. To this end, in the new situation to strengthen the strategy of China Unicom competition, China Unicom not only adapt to the current domestic competition and development needs, but also for the competition and challenge for subsequent worldwide basis. For this reason, the context of telecommunications restructuring study competitive strategy of China Unicom, have important practical significance. This paper first gives the introduction of this article discusses the purpose and significance of this study, research status, contents and framework; second chapter gives the relevant theoretical basis, mainly related to the telecommunications industry theory and the theory of competitive strategy, for the following provide the theoretical basis for analysis; third chapter reviews the development process of China’s telecommunications industry, from the three phases of the telecommunications industry monopoly gradually from the initial stage of transition to competition. Chapter IV analyzes competitive strategies Unicom, China Unicorn’s first analysis of the external competitive environment, the environment from Unicorn’s PEST analysis and Porter inability of two levels of analysis, followed by analysis of the telecommunications revolution and the3G licenses after sending Unicom faced opportunities and challenges. Chapter V analyzes the competitive strategy of China Unicom, China Unicom were given the overall competitive strategy, user development strategies, product strategies, pricing strategies and channel strategy. The final chapter as the conclusion part, gives the main conclusions of this paper, and promptly summed up the limitations of this study and future prospects.This study suggests that, Sichuan Unicom want to gain competitive advantage new competitive environment, we must re-integration of competitive strategy, developing a competitive strategy measures, and to actively manage and innovative services, to seize opportunities and achieve competitive breakthrough.
