In recent years, although software exploiting techniques and tools have a lot of progress, time-out, cost overruns, or even could not meet user’s needs is still abound in software project. At the same time, as more and more software companies started to pay regard to and implement project risk management, how to raise the level of risk management quickly and perfect the risk management system has become more and more urgent.Based on the analysis in the research status of software project risk management, the dissertation reviewed and analyzed some classical theory and model of software project risk management. And according to its shortcomings, the dissertation proposed a comprehensive risk management system model. As combined with risk knowledge base and risk management validation system, the model made the risk management process being rule-based and the risk management experience being effectively inherited. Then, the dissertation improved and optimized the risk management process within the framework of the system model:Firstly, the dissertation summarized the commonly used methods and tools of risk identification, and on this basis, the dissertation proposed a three-dimensional risk identification model which based on the software project life cycle, work breakdown structure and risk breakdown structure. The model emphasized that previous software project risks should be summarized and classified to form the knowledge base which could be used to guide future project risk identification. Secondly, from the perspective of risk assessment content, the dissertation improved the risk assessment code (RAC) that add the controllable factor of risks as an important indicator to measure the size of the risk, and combined with the Delphi method to assess risks. Finally, the dissertation also optimized the risk action planning process, and summarized the common risk response measures for software projects. On this basis, the dissertation used a specific software project risk management as an example, to introduce the application of the risk management model in simple terms, and verify the previous management system. Those attempts are very useful to risk management of similar projects.
