Tianjin Port as a port enterprise whose main business is bulk cargo transportation,container transportation, coal, iron ore, petroleum and related products, the annualthroughput reached400million tons. With the ever-changing global economy, marketcompetition and economic situation, it is necessary to improve the rapid reactioncapability of quickly responding to market needs if the enterprise would like to strivefor the survival and development, and advance to avoid risks and gain marketadvantage, so improve the core competitiveness in this process. Under thisbackground, there is a very important practical significance that applies, improves andperfects continuously the inventory management of supplying chain management,adopts proper inventory management methods in order to improve the enterpriseseconomic efficiency so that the enterprise can reach the goal of promoting sound andrapid sustainable development.With the globalization model is accepted by all, the modern supply chainmanagement which is increasingly widespread adoption and practice in the enterprisebusiness model. One of which is to minimize supply chain operating costs byoptimizing inventory management, therefore, inventory management plays animportant role on both turnover circulating capital and improve customer service twosides. Under this background and environment, the main contents what I discussed ishow to maintain reasonable inventory levels economically and maximize to improvethe system service ability in order to reduce inventory total costs and improve themarket competitiveness of enterprises on the premise of ensure the originalenterprise’s normal production operation. In recent years, the Tianjin Port Groupcompany makes the maximum of using the existing warehouse through systematicand scientific management and further optimizes the management system of inventorysupplies turnover. The company makes efforts to push forward industrial restructuringand upgrading, especially since2010, combined with the new supply chain modelsof modern logistics management concept, we upgrade the inventory function ofTianjin Port Supplies Company that is the subsidiary who is responsible of managingthe materials. And all this forms an energy-saving, quality service, constantlyincreasing competitive advantage favorable situation.This text expressed some study opinions on the logistics and inventory programsof Tianjin Port and its subsidiaries, Supplies Company. Firstly, we introduce and analysis the theory of supply chain management and inventory theory. We make acomparison and summarize among three sides of vendor managed inventory (VMI)and the joint management inventory (the JMI), and the collaborative inventorymanagement (CPFR).On the basis of theoretical analysis, we have an analysis to the inventorymanagement situation of Tianjin Port and its subsidiaries Supplies Company and pointout the shortcomings of the supply chain inventory management and put forward animproved proposal. Last, on the basis of synthesizing the theory analysis and problemanalysis, we make a thinking summary and offer a concrete improved measure bysome living examples of the inventory management of Tianjin Port production goodsand laid the foundation to further reduce production costs and improve the marketcompetitiveness of enterprises.
