Risk is everywhere. In the development process of the automotive parts,the risk is also difficult to avoid. These risk factors inside often lead to hugefinancial losses caused by the operation of the entire enterprise, loss of time,loss of opportunity and affect the survival of the enterprise in the market.For many car companies, although there is a common industrydevelopment process of product research and development to ensure productquality, there are often result in significant losses because of no full assessthe risk. In fact, companies can assess risk factors which will affect theproduct development. Companies also can establish an effective system ofrisk assessment and early warning security system so that the risk of productresearch and development projects will be minimized and the healthydevelopment of enterprises is maintained. Therefore, if risk can be assessedand controlled in the beginning, there will be positive significance for finalproject cost, time and quality goals doubtlessly.In this paper, for the above problems, new product development projectrisk factors were analyzed from the point of view of risk management. Theexpectation is to be a reference for the project risk management. Firstly, thispaper introduces the background and significance of the research, technicalroutine and frame; Secondly, this paper introduces the concept of automotive product development and project management processes, as well as theconcept and risk, such as risk identification, risk assessment; thirdly, thispaper introduces risk assessment for a specific project of C companydeveloping transmission control unit. According to the method and procedureof risk management, this paper assesses several major risk factors such asfinancial factors and human resource factors, technical factors, managementfactors and market factors. Finally, through expert scoring, using AHP as amethod of risk assessment in this article, this paper makes model calculationsof the above risk factors and overall risk analysis to help project managers tomake decision.
