2000to2011witnessed the transformation from the means of production to consumergoods in terms of cars in our country. Implementation of the policy on car subsidy in ruralareas enabled popularization of car from urban to rural areas. With the rapid growth of theauto market, China has surpassed the United States and Japan to become the world’sbiggest car producer and the largest auto market, featuring a veritable big auto country inproduction and sales.With the rapid rise of the automotive industry, self-owned brand vehicles are alsoundergoing fast development thanks to the vigorous support provided by the government.In addition to research and development in new cars and engines, many facilities andproduction lines have also been introduced for the manufacture of self-owned brand cars.The introduction and purchase of production lines reached a peak in the past two years.Engines are the core in car manufacturing, thus their introduction and purchase isparticularly important. This paper aims at the study of the high-quality introduction of theproduction line and engine equipment in self-owned brand domestic auto companies toensure both the on-time introduction and the control of running and maintenance costsarising from the production lines and facilities so that the optimum management methodof the introduction of the engine production line can be found.Taking the introduction of the self-owned brand engine production line in a domesticcar manufacturer for example, the author briefs about the current situation, projectelements and historical issues in connection with the engine production line which was led by the ME Department and jointly planned by the Equipment Department from theperspective of the latter. Moreover, the author studies issues including the organizationalstructure, work force allocation and the process flow to reveal the deficiencies andshortcomings in the project process and work method in terms of the introduction of theproduction line as well as to propose an optimization program in terms of the projectprocess, node control and project organizational structure. Finally, the author summarizesand looks into the future of the introduction of the production line in combination with thefeatures of car engine production facilities.
