With the fierce competition, a short delivery date and high quality is needed inpetrochemical equipment market. More inadequate points of traditional design andproduction process are shown in the new market demand. In light of this, this paperintroduces the ideas and methods of concurrent engineering, to re-construct andupdate the process.It’s a complex process of the design and develops of huge dust-collectingequipments in petrochemical industry. It involves the processing, piping, equipment&mechanical, electrical and instrument dept. From the awarded PO to delivery, thewhole process involves so many depts., however it also has a deadline of equipmentdelivery. So under the traditional serial model with long process cycle and highfailure rate, the delivery date and quality can’t be guaranteed. To solve theseproblems, this paper talks about as below aspects:According to the characteristics of typical dust-collecting equipments and theanalysis of the design principles of the previous project, I put forward the concurrentmodel and construct the process frame based on the new model.Building a integrated project team, which involves project manager and relatedengineers, the core of concurrent project is building a multi-departments andmulti-field team, and formulating the work-flow for each member.Establishing a platform and operating environment for this model. Creating thefile directory and information-sharing server; In a synergistic work environment, themembers with mutual trust and collaboration to work in parallel. And the regular and node meetings are also needed to guarantee a smooth process.Finally, applying the new model and instructions to the actual projects andhaving a analysis and evolution of the results, which have a good effects. This verifythe effectiveness of concurrent model in the design and production of airflow conveysystem.
