| As China’s excellent tourist city and national historical and cultural city, Wuxi has been at the forefront in the tourism development in the country. However, with a high degree of economic and social development and the approaching leisure time, Wuxi leisure tourism development faces new opportunities and challenges. To meet the new situation and requirements for the development of tourism, leisure and tourism industry in Wuxi is bound to enhance their competitiveness, create a new image of tourism.This paper mainly focuses on the competitiveness of tourism in the development of Wuxi. Based on the investigation and analysis of Wuxi tourism current situation, and the application of related theories such as tourism resources, leisure studies, tourism management etc., the paper makes further comparison and evaluation of the leisure tourism industry between Wuxi and other cities in Yangtze River Delta surrounding areas in combination with statistical data of Wuxi tourism. Meanwhile, the paper analyzes the potential competiveness of Wuxi leisure and tourism industry with the example of the Mountain Giant Buddha. It extracts the theoretical framework of leisure travel on international standards, proposes the market positioning and relevant suggestions which adapted to the development of the leisure and tourism industry in Wuxi, and provides evidence for leisure and tourism development in the comprehensive well-off age. |
