Along with the tide of reform, as well as various favorable policies, China’s hotel industry will thrive in this golden period. However, high employee turnover has always been the weakness of the industry. To a hotel, the employee is the lifeblood and the core of the competitiveness. They would provide better services for customers, which could enhance the hotel’s reputation, when their needs are firstly to be met. Therefore, the analysis of employee satisfaction is a necessary and effective practice in the human resource management. In view of the important role of L Hotel in the ranks of star hotel in Tai Yuan, an empirical research is conducted in the hotel. With reference to the large number of literature,28items are designed based on the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, namely, Physiological needs, Safety needs, Social needs, Esteem needs and Self-actualization needs. Data is collected through questionnaires and interviews, and is analyzed by the Excel. The questionnaire is administrated to300employees in that hotel, and293valid questionnaires are returned.Problems are shown as following:(1) Employee overall satisfaction tends to be above the average. Only a few fell unsatisfied, suggesting that there are some minor problems in the management.(2) The higher an employee’s position, more satisfied the employee feels. It indicates that the emphasis is placed on management, and more attention should be paid to the skilled employees.(3) Employee satisfaction on higher hierarchy of needs is inferior to that on lower ones. The Esteem and Self-actualization needs are to be improved.According to the problems, some suggestions are proposed.1.Misunderstanding of the hotel industry should be corrected, and work ethic should be built in employees. 2.The wage system is to be perfected to ensure that employees can get a reasonable and fair payment.3.Communication among the employee should be encouraged to create a harmonious and lively atmosphere for employees.4.A performance evaluation system is to be constructed so that the performance of the employee could be evaluated scientifically and effectively.5.Training opportunities for employees are to be increased to help them plan the career, and extend the space of the personal development. |
